So I bought some new photography props and things for the Knotty Sisters and wanted to try them out, luckily my son was in a good mood so I snuck in a mini photo shoot before the 4th of July.
You might have seen a backdrop similar to this (because they are all over pinterest!) I have seen them many times and thought they were something elaborate, but when I investigated a little further I realized they were really easy to make yourself. In fact, all this backdrop consists of is paper (yes, paper-from Hobby Lobby) and more paper to make the banner which I strung together with yarn. So simple! All I had to do was find a spot in our home with decent lighting (which wasn’t easy to do considering these never ending rainy days around here), tape it to the wall, tape the banner on and hope for a cooperative baby 🙂

Well I decided to make Blake’s easter basket, but unfortunately we started the blog after I decided this so I don’t have an actual tutorial with photos to help anyone out. I will share the few photos I happened to take of it just to give you an idea of how the process went. I wanted to buy a pottery barn one but they were really expensive and I thought it was a waste of money when I could make a similar one myself. I bought the basket at Michaels for $10.00 (originally $19.99, I used a 50% off coupon). I had this chevron fabric laying around from when I made Blake’s crib skirt. I had actually bought 4 yards of fabric and used less than 1 yard for it. I guess I left a lot of room for error! My in-laws have an professional embroidering machine for their business so I had them embroider Blake’s name on the fabric.
I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. Can’t wait to see if all filled up on Easter morning : )
Ahhhhh, its here, the day we’ve all been waiting for since January 2nd….March 20th aka The first day of spring. So i woke up this morning, put on my most appropriate of springy outfits opened the door and got smacked in the face with 30 degree sunshine. What the heck mother nature!? Don’t you know Brittany and I are 3 weeks out from our first 5k that neither of us feel ready for!? Don’t you know how crazy kids drive their mothers after being kept indoors for going on 5 months now!? Don’t you know what that stupid groundhog told everybody!? I’m not asking for unseasonable 70 degrees (but I wouldn’t complain) I would be happy with anything that gets our butts outside breathing fresh air, some much needed vitamin d, and maybe even some days warm enough to go get ice cream….. You didn’t think I went all healthy running a 5k and all? Oh well, happy March 20th, i’m gonna go crochet some new hats for my kids since they still need them!
